Facilities Use

"In my garden there is a large place for sentiment. My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers,
and the dreams are as beautiful."

— Abram L. Urban

The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, located in Wyoming's largest municipal park, Lions Park, is Wyoming's only public botanic garden. It began in 1977 as the Cheyenne Community Solar Greenhouse. It was one of the nation's first large-scale, solar-heated greenhouses, built by volunteers. The project pioneered a garden that provided therapy and meaningful activity to seniors, youth at risk and handicapped volunteers, a tradition that continues today.

weddings on our grounds

"Thank you so much for the opportunity to have our wedding in the Peace Garden! It was perfectly beautiful! Thanks for all you do for our community" Natasha & Josh

Our grounds are free and open to the public. There is no fence around the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens. However, if you want to be assured of the exclusive use of a landscape, please schedule that use with us. The scheduling of an outdoors grounds-use is mainly limited to weddings, other family or large group celebrations.

The site most commonly used for weddings is our Peace Garden located just north of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Conservatory, however, other sites have also been used with success including a small gazebo, Discovery Pond Gazebo and other areas. Come in and walk our grounds to view the Peace garden or any other possible areas.

Grounds uses and rentals are best limited to under 150 participants as there is limited space and even more limited parking. For all grounds use, participants are encourage to carpool, or bicycle whenever possible.

Inside Room Use Rentals

The Gardens has very limited inside room or conservatory rentals, as most of the space is either being used by staff and volunteers or there is not staff available to keep the room opens. On rare occasions the Gardens allows indoor use for very small weddings (20 or less), or not for profit groups during weekday hours on a once per year basis. Please call for availability during business hours.
